Overview

The Hamburg-based media company Gruner + Jahr publishes magazines such as 'Brigitte,' 'Geo,' and 'Stern.' Starting in 2024, G+J plans to release a streaming guide, similar to what competitors like 'Streaming,' 'STREAM IT!,' or 'Streamtime' already offer. There have also been websites like 'werstreamt.es' or 'streampicker.de' for some time. However, G+J's new guide aims to be of higher quality and less mainstream, with a stronger focus on culturally valuable content compared to the competition (similar to a magazine like 'cinema' for movies or the in-house magazine of Arte). Therefore, the medium is intended to be more than just a guide; it's also planned as a magazine with cultural aspirations, where, for example, art-house films are discussed rather than the latest season of 'The Bachelorette.' There will deliberately be no website counterpart, highlighting the deliberate contrast between analog medium and digital content. The magazine is scheduled to be published every two months

Why the name Scope?

Choosing the name 'Scope' for the magazine fits well with its goal of thoroughly exploring streaming content, focusing on cultural significance rather than just popular trends. The name implies wide coverage, in-depth analysis, professionalism, and clarity, showing its dedication to giving detailed and trustworthy information about streaming services and content
